Brisbane in Winter

Brisbane in Winter  - Gold Coast

Brisbane in Winter

As many batten down the hatches for winter, in Brisbane we are very lucky to enjoy an average winter temperature of around 21 degrees. With clear blue skies, mild temperatures, and the sun on your face, a winter holiday in Brisbane could be just want you need to defrost, relax, and unwind.

Whilst our mornings can be pretty crisp, and our evenings can bring a slight chill, a winter’s day in Brisbane is usually beautiful, and with so much to see and do, you will be spoilt for choice.

Make the Most of your Trip with a Car Hire in Brisbane

Brisbane in summer can be hot and humid, usually a great time to hit the beach, head to Southbank pools, or dive in your hotel pool, the winter is a great time to explore without the heat.

If you are heading to Brisbane for the winter and you are flying in, a rental car is a great way to get from the airport to your accommodation, and to get around on your travels.

A car rental means you can visit places off the beaten track, and walking tracks is something Brisbane has plenty of. Whilst Brisbane is a city of hustle and bustle, you are not far from National Parks, and walking tracks, there is D’Aguilar National Park that has beautiful gorges, lush greenery, and breath-taking views, and there is even a starter trail that is only 1.9 kms, so even beginners can enjoy the rainforest.

Enoggera Reservoir’s track takes you through a canopied forest, with beautiful trees, wildlife, and stunning scenery, all whilst getting in some brisk exercise.

Mount Coot-tha is a firm favourite, whilst you feel like a million miles away from everything, you can look over the city skyline and take it all in. A steep walk, this one is not for the faint hearted; however you can enjoy a nice drink and some lunch at the summit, or enjoy a picnic in the Botanical Gardens.

Brisbane is a vibrant city that has many events and festivals; the Ekka, The Royal Queensland Show, is an annual event that is held in Brisbane in the winter, and usually attracts approximately 400,000 people. Enjoy food, drinks, woodchopping, entertainment, activities, and much more.

You will have a whale of a time whale watching. September to November is the perfect time to enjoy watching the whales migrating, and it is a sight you will never forget. Watching these majestic creatures move through the water will take your breath away.

Whilst us Brisbanites might be a bit soft since we have acclimated to the mild winters here, you can come join us in the waves, you might be ok in a wetsuit whilst we don a steamer. Winter is a great time for surfing, and the water temperatures remain at around 20 degrees, so you can enjoy some great surfing even in winter.

Brisbane has so many great parks that the children will never get bored, and with our mild winters they can enjoy the great outdoors.
