Brisbane QPAC Theatre, CLANCESTRY.

From November 30 to December 6, 2015 the QPAC will be holding a week of free events designed to celebrate and educate. Clancestry, a Celebration of Country is an annual festival to celebrate the arts and culture of the World’s First Nations Peoples. There is a large focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and it gives us a great opportunity to explore and appreciate the original inhabitants of this beautiful country.
Clancestry began back in 2013 and has become one of QPAC’s signature annual festivals. The real beauty of it lies in the mixture of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, artists, industry and the public. The Clancestry festival offers us all a chance to engage and connect with clan groups, not just here in Australia but all around the world. It is a perfect blend of traditional and contemporary that is engaging and diverse.
Most of the Clancestry festival is held outdoors. It is highly recommended to bring water and protect yourself from the sun. The outdoor activities on the South Bank Cultural Forecourt as part of Clancestry are alcohol free events. QPAC’s café and bistro will be open. You are also welcome to bring along a picnic to enjoy on Melbourne Street Green.
Here is a brief list of what will be on at the Clancestry Festival and where it will be held. All events are FREE. Bookings may be required for some events.
