Trials begin on Wednesday 9 March at 8am at Snapper Rocks. This is the day to come out and watch international up and coming athletes and talented locals chasing that coveted one spot in each of the Quiksilver and Roxy Pros.
On Friday 11 March you can get the chance to meet the Quiksilver and ROXY team riders will be at Boardriders Coolangatta from 5pm – 6pm. Tropical Zombie will be providing entertainment afterwards.
Apart from watching all the great surfing action from the beach front, there are a few other things going on that might have you interested.
At the Quiksilver and ROXY tent you can chill out on the back deck overlooking Rainbow Bay from 8am til 5pm. There will be a big screen TV with the event streaming live if you want to escape the crowds and have a cold drink.
Inside the retail tent there will be a selection of Bradley, DHD and Channel Islands boards to touch and feel- favoured by our WCT surfers Kanoa Igarashi, Mikey Wright, Leo Fioravanti, Bianca Buitendag and Stephanie Gilmore. Definitely worth checking out.
You can even grab a haircut, shave or beard trim with the resident Quiksilver Boardriders barber doing a pop-up station at the tent!
On a lay day head down to the Boardriders Coolangatta to check out the store, hang out at the cafe and listen to the bands on Friday and Saturday nights.
It is probably best to plan your travel beforehand as it can get rather busy and hard to find parking. Beachfront parking is free but parking at The Strand (formerly Showcase) is now ticketed parking, so just keep that in mind. Buses and taxis will be available, however the area has no rail facilities.
